A Rare gem opened in Paihia
We opened our rare gem shop, Treasure Stones, in Paihia Shopping mall in 2010. It was perfect timing to capture the influx of tourists that flock to Paihia every summer. The shop is the culmination of a longstanding dream to turn our hobbies, gem cutting and creating necklaces, bracelets and earrings from authentic gemstones. 

We believe that Paihia is the perfect spot for us, not only in a business sense, but for family life with our two children.
Our most important gem is Ruby Goodletite, an extremely rare rock found only in the Westland area and New Zealand’s only precious stone. The first Goodletite was found near Hokitika by gold miners in the 1890s and features numerous colours through its combination of ruby, sapphire and tourmaline crystals embedded in green fuchsite. Treasure Stones is only the second outlet to sell
Ruby Goodletite jewellery which is set in sterling silver.  The first shop started about 20 years ago in Hokitika under the name “Ruby Rock”. We also sells jewellery with Ammolite, another rare and valuable opal-like organic gemstone. This colorful gem is formed from an ancient marine fossil and found in Canada. Still another special gem is Ruby Zoisite. a combination of pink/red ruby and green zoisite crystals in a single specimen. So take a look at our website for a treasure trove of gift ideas.
