BOI Uniting Parish was constituted from Presbyterian and Methodist parishes in Russell, Paihia, Kawakawa and Moerewa. Services are held each Sunday in Paihia at 9.15am and Russell at 11am.

Introduction
The retirement of our part-time minister in 1996 began a new era for our parish. The Local Shared Ministry Team of four or five ministry coordinators, first commissioned in 1992, now does all the work needed to enable the membership to maintain their parish’s vigorous style of ministry and mission.

11am Russell Church, 4 Wellington Street

Other Parish Centres
Taumarere – The community church of St Andrew at Taumarere now hosts the Kawakawa Anglican Congregation who lost their church by fire. We have no services at present in Kawakawa and Moerewa where the latter church is now used for the marvellous MINDS day care centre for intellectually and physically disabled people.

Centre for Re-Creation
Having sold the Minister’s residence the parish erected two cottages on the Paihia property to enable the property to be used for education, retreats and especially for stressed individuals and families needing a few days’ “time out”.

Visiting Worship Leaders
Ministers and accredited worship leaders are welcome to spend a weekend in one of the cottages in return for conducting worship on Sunday - but bookings are essential.

Outreach and Community Service
Eliminating paid ministry from our budget has enabled us to reach out to others much more. Over half of our offering income goes beyond the parish’s needs and we have given away about $100,000 to needy causes beyond the parish. Half of our regular givers designate part of the offering for:
* support for a Moerewa Community Youth Worker
* Christian World Service
* The “time out” programme of our Centre for Re-Creation
* support for MINDS Day Care Centre at Moerewa
And other causes chosen from time to time
