The Paihia Players were performing serious works several decades ago and, with vigorous fund-raising, built up financial reserves which are available to under-write some of their activites. They also have a large storage facility for a quite extensive range of costumes and properties, plays and memorabilia. In the last few years the cadre of experienced people has diminished and the group went into recess for some time but has recently been revived with a small but inexperienced group of enthusiasts.

In recent years this new group of people has workshopped and then staged full dress two play readings of works written by our own members. In 2008 our public offering show was a murder mystery dinner, Death by Cooperation, also devised and directed by one of our members. This was fully sold out a month ahead for two occasions at the Paihia Pacific Resort and was most enthusiastically received..

This show is now available to can be staged to order for your group of 40 to 120 or more. It provides a really challenging and amusing evening together with a substantial meal which, if self-catered, would enable a worthwhile fund-raising event. It could also be staged in any suitable local venue for high value entertainment.
Participation
Any group booking Death by Cooperation can provide some of the “suspects” who are given a short statement to read and a background dossier from which to answer questions. This style of murder mystery does not require acting or role-playing of any participants except the ten suspects and the Detective Chief Inspector. It’s a very easy format. And can be confidently commended. But if you don’t want to get involved in the role playing we have members who are familiar with it and love to do it.

We have an extensive collection of costumes and props which under certain circumstances may be rented by Paihia people.
