Project Island Song - Guardians of the Bay of Islands

Project Island Song is a shared strategy between the Guardians of the Bay of Islands, local hapu, the Department of Conservation and many private landowners to restore the mauri/lifeforce of the islands of Ipipiri.

A recent pest eradication programme carried out by DoC removed all rats and stoats from the islands. The next stage of the project is to restore the native ecology of the islands.  Tieke (saddlebacks), toutouwai (North Island Robins) and korimako (bellbirds) will be some of the species brought back - helping the islands sing again.

The Guardians of the Bay of Islands invite you to become actively involved in conservation activities on the islands as part of Project Island Song.

Individual membership is just $20 per year. Membership includes regular newsletters and the opportunity to participate in conservation activities such as weed removal and helping to run the new Project Island Song Centre on Urupukapuka Island.
