A town with personality
The Paihia Christmas Parade which is organized by Business Paihia once again had amazing floats in the theme ‘Rivers of the World’, we had the Queen on the Thames, Cleopatra on the Nile, The Zambezi, Taniwha’s and dolphins, and of course the Waitangi River.
The energy and time that goes into these floats is just fantastic, it is really a spectacular parade to watch as everyone puts in 110% effort! The judges had an extremely hard time deciding on the winning floats as it was so close. Best Business Float – Beachhouse Bar, Highly Commended in the business category were Fullers Great Sights, Explore NZ and a combined float by Coastal Plumbers, cadplanz and Club Paihia. The best Community Float was Waitangi/Paihia Kindergarten, the highly commended awards in that category went to Paihia School, Opua Playgroup and The BOI Rotary Club. There was a great Christmas Spirit on the day with Santa’s Lolly Scramble, a prize for every child that dressed up and lots of free fun with the bouncy castle on the Village Green.
